Periyar National Park is the place where Indian elephants, royal Bengal tigers, and other fascinating creatures find their home. Flora, Fauna, and Avifauna
Known the best as one of the top national parks in India, it covers the area of about 925 sq. km. The area is the habitat place to many endangered species of flora, mammals, reptiles, fishes, birds, and amphibians. It is situated in the hill range which comprises river Periyar and other regions which are home to different types of species.
Animals spotted: Also called as Periyar Tiger Reserve, one will get to explore white & Bengal tigers along with the others like wild pigs, Indian elephants, Nilgiri langoors, etc.
Flora: Expect the trees of sandalwood, tamarind, Jamun, and rosewood along with others. There is also the agriculture plantation of tea, coffee, and cardamom.
Birds spotted: The Park is a treasure for bird lovers too. Nilgiri wood pigeon, hornbill, frogmouth, etc. are some of the birds which can be spotted here.

Periyar Tiger Trail: It is the camping and trekking plan for 2 nights and 3 days which cover a total of 20 to 35 km.
Clouds walk: It is 3-4 hours of walk that takes participants to different points of the park. Right from the vantage point, one can enjoy the beautiful view of grasslands.
Bamboo Rafting: Hiking and rafting take you to the most verdant areas of the National Park. The tour will be guided by two professional guides and it is also one of the best things to do in Kerala.
Jungle Patrol: Patroling at night with the guards is quite a thrilling experience. Since the activity is about roaming in a quiet place, one needs to be disciplined while going for the patrol.

Periyar Lake: The Lake is spread over the area of 26 sq km. and also among one of the most charming lakes in Kerala. The place is perfect to spot wildlife species.

September to June is the best time to visit one of the top national parks in India. Summer season is the best to explore Bengal tigers, Indian elephant among others.

Bamboo Rafting: 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM
Walk in nature: 07:00 AM to 10:00 PM and 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM
Boat Safari: 07:30 AM to 09:00 AM, 09:30 AM to 11:00 AM, 11:15 AM to 12:45 PM, 01:45 PM to 03:15 PM, 03:30 to 05:00 PM
Entry fee are as follows:
Entry fee: Rs 155 for adults & Rs 5 for a child in India, Rs 450 for adults & Rs 33 for a child for foreigners
Boat Safari: Rs 150 for adults and Rs 50 for children below 11 years of age
Periyar trail: Rs 5500 for 1 night & 2 days, Rs 7500 for 2 nights & 3 days
