Thiruvananthapuram Zoo is one of the oldest ones in India and it is said to be established in 1857 by Maharaja of Travancore. In 1995, the zoo got a makeover and its old enclosures got replaced with the new one. It is a home of about 82 species of animals that include Asian elephants, royal Bengal tiger, giraffe, leopard, Nilgiri languor and buffalos. There’s also a reptile house and snake farm which consists of both poisonous as well as non-poisonous snakes along with 7 anacondas.

Hundreds of animals like leopard, white tiger, Bengal tiger, giraffe, Asian elephants, buffalos, zebras, hippos along with different types of snakes and anacondas can be seen there.
Thiruvananthapuram zoo also has over 15 species of fishes. These active creatures will keep the visitors enchanted. Aquariums are an essential part of nature that also keeps the children entertained and engaged.
The best time to visit the zoo is during the time of winter when the weather remains pleasant. During this time, you can easily walk around in the sun.

Holiday on Monday and the ticket can be purchased only till 4.30 PM.
